KAILUA-KONA (AP) — The Coast Guard has ended search efforts for a 67-year-old man missing off Kailua-Kona.
Fisherman Ron Ingraham just after 8 a.m. Thursday sent out a Mayday saying his 25-foot boat was taking on water and in danger of sinking.
The call came from Alinui Channel, about 46 miles southwest of Kailua-Kona.
Coast Guard and Navy crews made 59 flights covering about 12,000 square miles in search of Ingraham.
Coast Guard HC-130 crews deployed a marker buoy to attempt to track Ingraham’s movements.
Coast Guard officials said Ingraham departed Kaunakakai Harbor in Molokai and was on his way to Manele Bay in Lanai.
